Bug Description

After successfully installing Ubuntu 20.04 using UEFI with ZFS on my Poweredge R420, it booted to a purple/black screen with a mouse cursor. The mouse was not responsive and I could not use the system.

I was able to boot to the grub menu and use nomodeset on the boot options, which did allow the system to boot successfully. The system's gui hangs with "quiet splash", but does boot with "nomodeset".

When on the black screen with a mouse cursor, I was able to ssh into the system, so it is booting and running--it is the GUI, mouse, and keyboard that are unresponsive.

hardware is Dell Poweredge R420, 64GB ram, 2 x Xeon E5-2430L V2. Graphics is Matrox G200eR2 (which is the integrated video adapter). Bios is latest (2.9.0).

I get the exact same behavior described here:
https://askubuntu.com/questions/1231887/20-04-lts-boot-hang-matrox-g200ew-after-successful-install

The Xorg log file is attached.
I also ran the commands "sudo service gdm3 stop" and "sudo service gdm3 start". The log from the start operation are also attached.
