fglrx-core 2:15.201-0ubuntu1: fglrx-core kernel module failed to build

I installed AMD fglrx through AMD's website and upon reboot could not get to my desktop or TTY anymore. I tried to blindly uninstall everything and went back to X.Org open-source drivers. The bug was encountered.
