Actually this is not related to a kernel upgrade, rather to fglrx upgrade. The problem is reproducible, it happens when installing fglrx 2:13.101-0ubuntu0.0.1 . I downgraded to the old version of fglrx, 2:8.960-0ubuntu1, and it works without a problem in newer and older kernels, so the bug is related to the newer version.

summary: - Kernel 3.2.0.58 regression, X server segmentation fault after fglrx
- error message "failed to open CMMQS connection"
+ X server segmentation fault after fglrx error message "failed to open
+ CMMQS connection", after upgrading fglrx-installer

Similar error for Catalyst 14.6 beta/Lenovo G510, i7, build in Intel graphics, AMD Radeon R7 M265/Ubuntu 14.04: X server do not starts after driver instalation and reboot with error "failed to open CMMQS connection".

According to http://ati.cchtml.com/show_bug.cgi?id=831#c24 it is supposed to be solved in 14.7
