I think I'm suffering from the same problem. I have the same machine (including graphics card) and the OS says it has to run in low graphics mode. When I try to run in that mode, it sends me to the terminal. If I choose recovery mode, then bail out and choose "resume normal boot", then it does load the OS just fine (presumably without the graphics driver loaded).

Which driver have you installed? A tried to install the latest stable catalyst driver, from the website of AMD, which should support this video card, but after I installed this, I can't see the login screen, only a cursor on a blank black screen...
