The version of catalyst you are trying to install uses do_mmap(), which is deprecated since kernel 3.4 or 3.5. Have you tried installing the package fglrx (or fglrx-updates, both currently version 2:9.000) from quantal? That should work just fine.

I tried installing the drivers from the "software sorces"(I don't know how's it called in english, that's a literal tranlation from italian). Normal fglrx installed but nothing changed in terms of performance. When I rebooted after installing fglrx-updates and I logged ubuntu said compiz had crashed, so windows' borders, the bar on the top, and the launcher bar didn't work (using the terminal I returned to the open drivers.
I was trying that version of Catalyst because the newer ones (like the 13.1) said "no supported adapters detected" and I'm using an AMD radeon HD 7450, that should be supported.
