Bug Description
### I'm running Ubuntu-Studio 12.10 Quantal Qetzal
==== after trying to install the proprietary ATI driver & Catalyst control center from AMD's website for Linux 64 bit (x86)
==== after reboot (resolution was lower and had black area about an inch all the way around the desktop.
==== the fglrx-info didn't show the graphics card and the catalyst control center wouldn't load.
==== so i had run apt-get install fglrx and fglrx-updates and tried reinstalling the proprietary ATI driver and it still didn't work.
==== then i ran the ATI installer again but this time selected to build a .deb package for Ubuntu. It didn't work right off the bat
==== so i had to do apt-get install **** for some dependencies. Then i ran the ATI installer again and tried to build the .deb
==== packages and it worked. it made 3 .deb packages one fglrx-ubuntu, one fglrx-dev, and the .deb for the catalyst software.
==== i tried to open the fglrx_8.
==== load it but it said some kind of thing like it didn't have the right stuff to install the package. so i closed the Software
==== Center. Now every time i try to open the software center it opens the gui and the circular loading indicator looks
==== like it's 1/4th full but it's not moving and then 1 second later it just closes.... (poof)... ps -ax shows no process for it after
==== this happens. i've looked at the work around they had to use for 12.04 where that .py file on line 176 had some command
==== that caused this same kind of thing... but they've since fixed this and my .py file didn't even have the lines at 176 that
==== those workarounds were talking about. i tried removing software-center and reinstalling several different ways.
==== each time i uninstalled / reinstalled it it still would automatically close after 1 second of the GUI popping up.
==== so i'm not sure if it's not graphics driver related because my xorg.conf is setup with an aticonfig --initial setting but as
==== i said earlier fglrx-info says no card is detected. now i'm trying to continue to install that
==== fglrx_8.
==== when i install them it says that they are conflicting and cannot be removed and the .deb install process exits.
==== so i was searching google for solutions and someone posted this command to clean out everything fglrx related.
==== sudo apt-get autoremove --purge fglrx fglrx-updates
==== now here's the bug... i've included the terminal window output. ubuntu studio caught this as a bug and prompted me
==== to submit it and go to this website (i just created an account). i'm going to keep trying to install the
==== fglrx_8.
