fglrx 2:9.000-0ubuntu3: fglrx kernel module failed to build

I tried to install the amd drivers from thier website, then it said running in low graphics mode. I deleted xorg.conf, and uninstalled the fglrx packages but now unity wont load, no sidebar or menu bar... gah!
