Asus x102ba running Xubuntu 13:10 stuck at maximum brightness

Bug Description

I have a fresh install of Xubuntu 13:10 running very nicely on an Asus x102ba. Everything works OOTB except the brightness. Function buttons do not adjust it, and although inserting the switch acpi_backlight=vendor into grub allows the laptop to see the backlight settings, I still cannot adjust them -- manually or otherwise.

Let me know what other information you need, so we can resolve this bug!
