[needs-packaging] festival-ru should be available

Bug #373617 reported by Sergey V. Udaltsov on 2009-05-08
This bug affects 1 person
Affects Status Importance Assigned to Milestone
festvox-ru (Ubuntu)

Bug Description

There is a Russian voice (very good quality) http://festlang.berlios.de/docu/doku.php

It is already packaged for Debian.

I packaged it for jaunty in my PPA (https://launchpad.net/~sergey-udaltsov/+archive/ppa). The packaging is very similar to the Debian one.

Could it please be included into main distro?

This bug is tagged needs-packaging which identifies it as a request for a new package in Ubuntu. As a part of the managing needs-packaging bug reports specification, https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/Specs/NeedsPackagingBugs, all needs-packaging bug reports have Wishlist importance. Subsequently, I'm setting this bug's status to Wishlist.

Changed in festival (Ubuntu):
importance: Undecided → Wishlist

Brian, would you need any help in processing of that bug? What would be the timeline, perhaps approximate one?

Seems like Debian already has this package in stable and testing, but with a different name.

AFAIK, it will be synced from Debian (semi) automatically before Debian Import Freeze (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KarmicReleaseSchedule). Otherwise you need to file sync request (requestsync from ubuntu-dev-tools).

Actually there are 2 packages in Debian: festvox-ru (actual data) and festival-ru (empty, just includes festival and festfox-ru as dependencies). If it is going to be available in Karmic, feel free to close this bug after the import. How could we ensure that these packages are included?

The package is in Karmic already, great. :)

affects: festival (Ubuntu) → festvox-ru (Ubuntu)
Changed in festvox-ru (Ubuntu):
status: New → Fix Released

Thanks, hurray! :)
