Bug Description

Binary package hint: fail2ban

Error is related to default python >= 2.6
Error is known in upstream package and fixed in fail2ban 0.8.4

Affects jaunty and probably karmic since fail2ban in karmic is the same version as in jaunty. and possible earlier versions of ubuntu as well.

Solution upgrade to newer upstream package.

This is a security issue because it prevents a useful program that to protect against brute force attacks to run.

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears to be a "regular" (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy. Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

I'd think this bug can be closed, since we're already way beyond 0.8.4?
