F-spot cannot connect to Canon A70 camera when Nautilus is set to automatically open F-spot for photos

Bug Description

Binary package hint: f-spot

My Canon A70 would not connect in F-spot to allow import and gave an error (Bad parameters) when plugged into the computer. I changed my Nautilus configuration so instead of automatically opening F-spot, Nautilus would ask me what I wanted to do for Photos (Edit | Preferences | Media tab). This solved what I assume is a race condition where F-spot and the Nautilus tried to get hold of the camera, and it all works properly. (Karmic 9.10, F-spot 0.6.1.3).

Same problem with my HP Photosmart 715 camera. Nautilus seems to lock the file and not allow F-spot import to get access. This is a Karmic issue and worked perfectly in 9.04. I get a different error message (see below) and my work around for now is to copy to disk via nautilus them run F-spot import from that.
