Bug Description

Binary package hint: f-spot

The problem is with the f-spot-0.5.0.3-ubuntu3 package, the f-spot-0.5.0.3-ubuntu2 worked properly.

F-spot starts after displaying the root window, f-spot stops working and closes the window.

Running the latest proposed update of f-spot on Ubuntu 8.10.

starting 'f-spot --debug' from a terminal results in the attached output.

Thanks for your report, may you tell us a few easy steps in order to reproduce the crash? does it works fine with another account? I've tried to reproduce this but f-spot works fine for me with a stock user account and with another one with loads of photos, not confirming, also the log doesn't reflect any crash, may ou try to get another one? thanks.

Changed in f-spot:
assignee: nobody → desktop-bugs
importance: Undecided → Medium
status: New → Incomplete

talked to soon, do you have enabled the color management option in the preferences dialog? if so that's a duplicate of bug 291189.

Thanks. This is a duplicate of bug 293437. Unfortunately, the fix in intrepid-proposed has uncovered another bug.

The easy steps are clicking on the f-spot icon in the main menu, then a window opens and closes immediately (without debugging enabled, it seems as the screen flickers).

With a vanilla account I cannot confirm the problem either. The problem occurs only with those accounts that already have an existing f-spot photo collection (with tags and all).

The photo collection was created with 8.04. The system was upgraded from 8.04 to 8.10 recently. After the upgrade I tested the photo collection and used f-spot only as a photo viewer (no new photos added)

Color management was not used with f-spot in the past.

With the gconf-editor I cannot see anything that hints that color management is activated (and f-spot does not start).

In .gnome2/f-spot I cannot find anything that hints color management, either.
