Bug Description

Binary package hint: f-spot

On a fresh 8.04.1 install, with italian locales, i don't have a ~/Photos directory.

But when i for example insert an sd-card with pictures, f-spot complains with this message:

Il contenuto della cartella non può essere visualizzato
Impossibile eseguire lo stat del file "/home/prova/Photos": Nessun file o directory

Because /home/prova/Photos has not been created during installation.

Same problem with ubuntu intrepid ibex (8.10)

F-spot complains that /photos directory does not exist (in the italian release of the distro it's Immagini) and i can't change the default import directory of F-Spot in MODIFY->PREFERENCES->IMPORT->DIRECTORY

This also occurs with a fresh installation of 8.10 (Release Candidate) using the en_CA locale (Canadian English). F-spot seems to be looking for /home/user/Photos when the precreated folder is called "Pictures".

A way to resolve the problem is launching f-spot with the command:

$ f-spot -p ./Immagini

Where IMMAGINI is the folder where you keep your pictures

Same problem with Ubuntu 8.10 final (amd64 and i386).

F-spot complains that photos directory does not exist. It should look for "Bilder" as I am from Germany and so use german localisation.
I also can't change the default import directory of f-spot. It's just greyed out.

Another thing (different from this bug): I have no sidebar with the tags anymore. Maybe this is related?
