Bug Description

Binary package hint: f-spot

When going to fullscreen mode, the current picture is displayed using the entire screen and a small dialogue box is visible in the lower part of the screen with various button to move back and forth in the library or go in slideshow mode, etc.
This small dialogue box disappear automatically after a few seconds and we can view the photograph completely.
However, when switching to the next or previous photograph using the keyboard (page up or down) and after the dialogue box has automatically disappear, the part that this dialogue was hiding and that should be refreshed is replaced by data taken from the previously displayed picture. Thus the current displayed picture is not displayed properly.

This happen every time when going from one picture to the other using the keyboard short-cut, it does not happen when using the mouse with the dialogue box controls.

Check attached screenshot.

Questions from upstream:

"Hi,

When the toolbar is shown, can you see through it ? I mean is it transparent ?

If no, you probably don't use a composite window manager or don't have a
composite enabled xserver...

Can you check this ? can you use 3D desktop effects like compiz or beryl ?"

I can answer for him since I experienced it. You have to turn Compiz off, and use the slideshow (I have not managed to see it with fullscreen). This is difficult to get, I haven't really determined when this occurs. Looks like you get it when the bar is hiding at the very moment when the photo is changing (maybe with fade).

Note (I don't know whether this may be related) that the zone filling the space between the rounded corners of the bar and the corners of the rectangle it fits in are *black*, which is ugly (still without compositing).

I have the same problem with compiz enabled. Fullscreen doesn't work at all. I have all the new updates and fresh install.

I think this and all similar "bugs" are compiz related needers of documentation. See bug #149291

I started fiddling with ccsm and the "full screen mode" or "[full screen mode]" that appears in the bottom bar.
It works.

The same here. When I put the photos in slideshow there's a small square in the lower right part of the screen that keeps trembling.

Same bug here. Happens when using compiz. No problem with Metacity. I am using an Nvidia 7400 GS video card. Seems same bug as bug #130085

Seems to work better if turning off Legacy fullscreen support in Compiz config settings -> Workarounds.

Ok, I solved the issue doing right-click on the full screen window iconised, then maximise, and when I close/reopen the full screen it's ok !

Unfortunately I haven't used f-spot often recently, but I've just tested it now and it seems to work fine even with the updated kernel (2.6.24.17).

Hello ! Thanks for your work !

As long as I could experiment f-spot, the fullscreen bug has not reoccured. SO, for me, it is solved :) Thanks !
