Bug Description

Binary package hint: evolution

I use IMAP4 with gmail. Everytime I start Evolution and I try to delete a message it seems to be deleted, but when I come back in the same folder the message is still there and is missing in Trash. When I delete it for the second time, it is deleted and goes in Trash folder as it has to do.

I was using a Natty beta in a Virtualbox.
I have another Natty (final version) in a real machine and the problem
in Evolution has disappeared.

I have Evolution running in Natty final now and am seeing this problem. My mail is on a dovecot IMAP server (version 1.2.9). When deleting email, sometimes the message is deleted and does not reappear, and other times the message will be back when I return to my inbox in Evolution. I'll see if I can monitor any trends to track down the problem, but let me know if I should check anything in particular.

I have same problem as eric kerby.

Deletion of emails in inbox first makes the email(s) disappear (as expected), but often they reappear just a minute later.

Server is dovecot 1.2.15-4 on Debian squeeze.

This is a regression in natty, I did not have this problem on 10.10 and also I am still not having it on 10.04 (which I use on another machine with the same imap account).

Please fix this, it is a BIG annoyance not being able to delete all the spam and other crap one gets.

I suggest to raise importance.

Having a multiple-times-a-day reproducable annoying regression in the standard email client of ubuntu is definitely more than "low importance".

might be related to bug #675908 (sounds similar, although it did not happen to me on 10.10)

Is there any upstream bug report for this one? I could not find any.

My wife is keeps bugging me that she encounters that bug all the time, but I can't seem to be able to reproduce in a reliable way. Does this bug occur every time for you guys? Are there special circumstances where it seems to be more likely to happen? Any ideas?

Yep, same here. I have the problem with all my IMAP boxes, including one Exchange account used via IMAP. Steps to reproduce: delete a message from inbox, go to another folder, go back to inbox and you'll see the message you just deleted.

Alternative steps to reproduce: go to the inbox, delete a few messages, move one message to another folder and you'll see the deleted messages reappear.

Forgot to add that this started happening for me on Evolution 3.2.0 (on Oneiric)
