Bug Description

Binary package hint: evolution

Package Evolution 2.28.3-0ubuntu9

I use an OpenLDAP 2.4.18-0ubuntu1 backend on Karmic for all my contacts. Since upgrading my frontend to Lucid, 10.04, I can no longer update or add contacts to LDAP using Evolution. I can delete contacts though, and searching the database works as expected.

I am able to update, add and delete contacts via PHPLDAPAdmin, however I had to apply the workaround in this bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/phpldapadmin/+bug/489619 for the database to be accessible via PHPLDAPAdmin as well. Prior to adding this workaround, the database was behaving read only for all apps.

The OpenLDAP database was created and worked as expected, (read, write, modify, delete etc.) from Evolution on Ubuntu 8.04. It was exported from OpenLDAP in 8.04 32 bit, and then imported to clean OpenLDAP in 9.10, 64 bit, package 2.4.18-0ubuntu1 as part of a server upgrade. The slapd.conf was migrated as was.

Thanks

Thank you for your bug report. The issue is an upstream one and it would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug the to the people writting the software (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME)

Changed in evolution (Ubuntu):
importance: Undecided → Low

I'll raise a bug report with that team

Thanks for the report, it has been some time without any response or feedback in this bug report and we are wondering if this is still an issue for you with the latest release of Ubuntu the Natty Narwhal, May you please test with that version and comment back if you're still having or not the issue? Please have a look at http://www.ubuntu.com/download to know how to install that version. Thanks in advance.

As there was no update to the bug report and no request for information
either upstream (to the Gnome Evolution team - not LDAP) or here in over
a year, it wasn't obvious what information was needed.

What has changed in the LDAP/Evolution packages relevant to this between
10.04 and 11.04? Are you requesting that I upgrade the server or the
client I am still running 10.04 LTS on both?

Thanks

Upgrading the client from Lucid through Maverick to Natty did not make any difference.

This can be closed. Issue tracked to LDAP server.
