Bug Description
Binary package hint: evolution
Preconditions:
System is Ubuntu Jaunty 32-bit with all updates
Network has a proxy and is configured automatically with a .pac file
The following apps run properly: Firefox, Pidgin, ping, apt-get, eclipse, printing
No other apps seem to have a networking problem.
Problem:
When configuring evolution with exchange It can't resolve the address of the OWA URL. The url is https://....
When entering simple http:// a different error is encountered
Work Around:
Change the network preferences from use system setting to direct connection
Thoughts:
The .pac file only defines a single proxy that everything goes though (http, https, and ftp). Firefox seems to pick up on this and is able to process https traffic but it seems like evolution is not able to process https traffic (thereby generating the bad url for the https url) since the website in an internal site using a direct connection works and allows evolution to resolve the address properly.
This condition is counter intuitive and should be looked into. The previous setup of 8.04 with Evolution 2.24 did not have this problem so It is implied that the new package has some slight incompatibility. Wether this lies withing Evolution or within the packaging should be determined

I remember this being worked on upstream, on a previous Evo version. Will check upstream -- and, in fact, this might even be a duplicate... -- and will check on LP also.
