Bug Description

Binary package hint: evolution

I've had this problem since updating to intrepid a couople of weeks ago. currently with evolution 2.24.1-0ubuntu2.

every time my laptop resumes from sleep -- and therefore loses its wireless connection & has to reconnect -- evolution hangs while pinging my imap server. Once i kill the ping task by pressing the red X box in the bottom status bar (is that the right name?) evolution begins to function again, but in the meantime any task that requires the network fails, and often other taks as well (e.g. switching mailboxes, etc). It seems to me that evolution is not getting the offline signal from network-manager, but i can't be sure that's the problem, and as i only notice a real problem in evolution, i'm reporting here. please let me know if there's anything i can do to debug.

Hi Sebastian, hi all!

Which information do you need?

I experience the same bug in jaunty .

If the network-connection gets lost, while evoulution is performing interactions with the IMAP-server, it hangs.
Killing evolution is no solution. It wont restart until you have rebooted my PC. ->Very annoing.

Here is how to reproduce the bug:

You will need a slow internet-connection, or you might consider to slow down your computer, by running a resources-houngry application

-Start evolution
-while it syncronizes with your IMAP-server pull out the network-cable
-Click the [X] to close evolution -> It wont close
-Open the system-monitor, choose processes, end evolution
-Start evolution -> No window appears
-in system-monitor check if evolution is running. Should be active and consume a lot of CPU-time

Thank you!

Best regards,

the useful information would be a stracktrace as requested before or somebody opening the bug on the GNOME bug tracker
