Bug Description

Binary package hint: evolution

When I try to change to the calendar view, evolution crashes with a segfault (after showing the calendar display for a very brief moment). This only happens when I start evolution with "--component=mail" (as in the default gnome panel launcher). Starting evolution in this way from a terminal window gives the output:

** (evolution:27488): DEBUG: mailto URL command: evolution --component=mail %s
** (evolution:27488): DEBUG: mailto URL program: evolution
Changing the queries (contains? "summary" "")
Segmentation fault

The segfault appears when I try to change view. If I start without "--component=mail" it starts with the calendar view, and I can change back an forth between the different views. Here is the terminal output from such a run (terminated intentionally):

** (evolution:27743): DEBUG: mailto URL command: evolution --component=mail %s
** (evolution:27743): DEBUG: mailto URL program: evolution
Changing the queries (contains? "summary" "")

(evolution:27743): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_signal_handlers_disconnect_matched: assertion `G_TYPE_CHECK_INSTANCE (instance)' failed

In spite of the errors evolution appeared to work normally.

I can confirm the bug. The segmentation fault in evolution happens when switching to calendar only if assistive technologies are on. Change the settings in gnome-at-properties and evolution stops crashing. This is similar to bugs https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/270271 and http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=551845

I can confirm that the crashing stops after disabling assistive technologies as described by Aleksander Lukasiewicz
