Bug Description

I am migrating from 64bit 7.04 to a fresh install of 64bit 8.04. I migrated from thunderbird to evolution.

When I start evolution after a boot, a gnome-keyring pops up and requests my password.

If I close and then reopen evolution, there is no popup.

Do you use auto-login to GDM?

Yes, I use auto-login.

As a workaround, I have disabled the keyring password.

I also noticed that my evolution passwords are stored in clear text in
login.keyring. This is not a good thing!

Thank you. This is, then, a duplicate of bug 236264, and I will set it as such. Your workaround is correct, and the only way to bypass having the g-kr asking for a password. Please look at that bug for more details.

Having the keyring wide open is -- right now -- a consequence of having auto-login enabled. Indeed this is not a good thing, but so is auto-login...
