Bug Description

Binary package hint: evolution

I use evolution 2.12.1 and have a problem with GnuPG / PGP crypted messages.

There is no problem, if I get an crypted message from an evolution user. after entering the passphrase evolution will show the complete messesage.

but if i send an crypted message with thunderbird the crypted part of the message will not be displayed after entering the pasphrase. then there is an unknown attachment called "attachment.dat" and can be saved locally.

i get the same problem if i request an crypted message from the GnuPG-Bot "Adele" (<email address hidden>). Evolution don't display the crypted part of the message.

Thanks for your report, is that reproducible with another new user created on your system?

I have the same problem. I looked at the email source and found a "=20" (without qoutes) with could make the trouble. But i'm only guessing.
I attached a test email which has the problem, I hope this helps.

I'm getting the same problem with mails received from a Mail.app user. Just installed Ubuntu Hardy beta after quite some time using another distribution so I can say that it happens with new system users as well (ie. no previous Evolution settings existed)

Evolution 2.22.1
I receive a message with attachment.dat and I can't see it embedded in evolution, I have to save and open it with the text-editor...
Evo doesn't manage well crypted emails from Thunderbird

I can confirm this for mails sent by Thunderbird users. After decrypting, I can save the "attachment.dat" locally and open it with a text editor, as Luigi described it. So it seems to be no problem of decrypting, but one of displaying.

But additionally, there seems to be a problem with verifying the signature of such messages: After decrypting, Evolution shows the message only as encrypted, but not as signed (Button on the bottom of the message). But when decrypting the message directly with gpg, it says: "gpg: Good signature from ...". So the message is actually encrypted and signed, but Evolution doesn't handle the signature.

I can also confirm this bug.

Evolution 2.22.3.1, Ubuntu 8.04.1

I get an attachment.dat which in reality is a plain/text file, and have to open that file in an external editor. Please fix, this is annoying!

could somebody attach an example which works correctly in an another mailer?

Attached is an example e-mail. I have deleted all Received headers, as well as the message content itself. This E-mail displays correctly in Thunderbird; actually, I could only test it in Icedove version 1.5.0.14eol (20080724), but I assume it would make no difference.

"Please try with 2.25.92, where this seems to work fine for me. Evolution just
tries to decode inline pgp, which is correct behaviour.

could you try with the current jaunty version?

I just received an inline pgp message from an enigmail user and to my surprise evolution displayed the cleartext just fine. After clicking on "Reply" i was even more surprised as evolution quoted the pgp ascii armored message, not the cleartext.
