Bug Description

Ubuntu 17.04
Xfce 4.12 (distributed with Xubuntu)
evolution 3.22.6-1ubuntu1

When composing an email, if I press the enter/return key (either one) while the cursor is at the end of a non-empty line, the text entry box for the body of the email freezes. I am unable to enter or remove any other text in that box. If I move the "Compose Message" window, the text box disappears (becomes gray). All other buttons and text boxes seem to work properly, although sending a message that has frozen in this way results in a blank message body.

After some further investigation, this behavior occurs when adding a space to the end of a non-empty line as well. Tabs do not seem to produce this behavior. If a space or newline is added before some visible character on the line, the character is inserted properly and no freeze occurs.

I solved this problem by upgrading libpcre3 to the latest version. It was being held back previously.

From /var/log/dpkg.log:
2017-08-31 08:23:51 upgrade libpcre3:amd64 1:8.31-2ubuntu2.2 2:8.39-3
2017-08-31 08:23:51 upgrade libpcre3:i386 1:8.31-2ubuntu2.2 2:8.39-3
