Message Preview shows white background with white letters

3) What is expected to happen is the Evolution message preview pane does not show a white background with white letters.

4) What happens instead is it does as per the attached picture.

WORKAROUND: Use the gmail web interface.

I don't use 14.04, Evolution (instead I use Thunderbird), or Xubuntu.
