Bug Description

Hi,

I upgraded this morning, 27/4/2013, and now the mail application, Evolution, is not working.

The problem is that if I open Evolution it displays my mails and then closes immediately. I cannot do anything ie open a mail, make a back up etc. It doesnt give me a chance to.

1 - Ubuntu Release:
michael@Home:~$ lsb_release -rd
Description: Ubuntu 13.04
Release: 13.04

2 - Evolution version:
3.6.4-0ubuntu1

3 - I expected Evolution to open and allow me to retrieve mails etc

4 - Evolution closed on its own without giving me a chance to perform any functions

Same here. In fact, I only need to open Evolution to add other Google-Sub-Calendars, so they are displayed in my Gnome-Shell-Panel. So if someone knows a workaround for adding other Google-Sub-Calendars without using evolution, I would be happy about that.

Hi,

I managed to get mine sorted by doing a complete removal via the
Synaptic Package Manager. I then downloaded it again from the Software
Centre. What came as a surprise all my mails and archives were intact
afterwards.

I also tried that, but did not have success. Did you remove any other packages apart from the normal evolution package? (There are lots of other packages including "evolution" installed...)

Hi,

I did a "complete removal" of evolution via synaptic that was it, it
removed all that was linked. I installed via the software centre and
added what I wanted from there.

thanks, but that didn't help for me either. even after that, evolution only appears for about a second and then crashs.

Worked for me, too. I ran

  $ sudo apt-get purge evolution
  $ sudo apt-get autoclean

I then installed evolution (from the Software Centre) and restarted (to ensure all the Evo' related daemons were restarted).
