Try disable "Use secure connection".

I deselected Use Secure Connection. Didnt do anything. Wow you think this
would just work. Who is going to roll out Ubuntu/Evolution when you have to
work so hard to get a email account to work.

I was able to successfully work around the issue by disabling "use secure connection" and then restarting evolution. Using Evolution 3.2.3 and Ubuntu 12.04 LTS.

This bug appears to be a duplicate of bug 912275 and 988396. The work around for this problem solves the issue of the other two bugs.

Using gconf-editor, one can go to: /apps/evolution/mail/accounts
and from there copy the contents of the "account" key. Create a key called "transport" if it's not present, and paste the contents of the "account" key into it.

Doing this allows the "Use secure connection" option to function correctly.
