Evolution (Lucid) will not connect to Exchange 2003

I am trying to get Evolution to connect to Exchange 2003.

I can access OWA normally at the address https://xxx.yyy.zzz/exchange/ with a username domain\username but Evolution stubbornly refuses to connect. I have tried all possible variants of the OWA URL, different password encryption methods etc. and nothing works.

I am entering this as a new bug as the existing bugs suggest that this was a regression in Hardy - I have NEVER managed to get Evolution to connect to our work Exchange server.
