Bug Description

Binary package hint: evolution-exchange

This is a heavy bug!

Testing with Ubuntu 8.10 as of today and Evolution 2.24.0, the following happens:

Trying to look at some older emails, Evolution can only show you the sender and subject but not the message body. Instead of the message body, it says:

----
Nachricht konnte nicht abgerufen werden
Verbindung mit Evolution Exchange-Hintergrundprozess verloren
----

AFAIK there are quite a few Exchange backend related bugs but I think this one is special as there is no total loss of contact to the server but only some emails are concerned, and this is reproduceable.

Best thing (apart from solving this) would probably be to add a "re-synchronize all" button to Evolution (why doesn't it do a full sync in startup anyway?).

thanks for the report, may you send this upstream at bugzilla.gnome.org since you're having the issue ? for forwarding instructions please have a look to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME; leaving this as incomplete until that, thanks in advance.

Changed in evolution-exchange:
importance: Undecided → Low
status: New → Incomplete

Actually I think my technical knowledge is too limited to file upstream bugs. Maybe someone else could do it?

Btw. I wonder why the Evolution developers keep ignoring an OS as important as Ubuntu by apparently not reading Launchpad bug reports.

I had the same problem. Exchange process got lost all the time.

first I made a backup of my /home/myuser/.evolution folder in case something goes wrong.
Then I removed the Exchange Account i evolution, closed it, reopened it and created a new exchange account. Now everything works again!

Maybe this helps!
