Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage . I have classified this bug as a bug in evolution-exchange as indicated by the SourcePackage line in your crash report.

I am experiencing exactly the same symptoms. The problem is intermittent; however, the client needs to be restarted each time it happens.

I can report that this happens to be daily. Sometimes I can get around the problem by kill -9'ing all the evolution processes and then restarted evolution, but that doesn't work all the time either. I have noticed that there might be some Calendar related problems with this too. The only reason I say that is that once I restart evolution the calendar that is my default is not checked (evolution Calendar). This might just be due to the fact that I've "lost connection to the backend process", but just wanted to pass that along.

One other thing: I notice that I don't get this problem as much if I select the "To:" and get the "Select Contacts from Address Book" dialogue. In that screen it has you select which address book you want to search on, so I was wondering if the autocompletion is failing on the general search for which address book to use (I have a personal one).

Also - any updates on this?

Thanks!

I have a very similar problem. Sometimes when I type in an email address, as the system tries to look it up to validate it, my system hangs for some period of time. If I wait long enough (30-90 seconds), it will come back. But it is VERY annoying. This is on Intrepid Ibex with all updates applied.

Sounds like I'm hitting the same bug. I don't use evolution-exchange though - I do have an LDAP address book setup which "probably" isn't reacahable at the moment. (It doesn't appear to be working anyway).

My situation is the same but worse, it hangs and blocks all inputs to the UI. The mouse pointer moves and system monitor applet updates but mouse clicks and UI specific keyboard commands don't work. Only work around is to alt-tab-f1, log in command line, kill the evolution process, and alt-tab-f7 back to work system. I would rank this as "HIGH"

I experience exactly the same. It tends to happen when evolution has been started and is in its usual 5-10 minutes long checking of changed mails during which it is unusable. If it wasn't for the calendar, I'd change to KMail immediately...
