f.schmeil (or anyone that sees this bug): can you replicate this easily? If so, could you run e-addressbook-factory under valgrind? To do so, please do the following, on a terminal, after having quitted evolution.

$ sudo apt-get install valgrind
$ killall -9 e-addressbook-factory
$ valgrind /usr/lib/evolution/e-addressbook-factory

and then open evolution and try to do the same you were doing when you got the crash. Please note that running e-addressbook-factory under valgrind is slow, so please be patient :-)

Then, once you have replicated the issue, please paste here the whole output from the terminal.

f.schmeil, did you have a chance to run the commands in the previous comment? I have been running e-addressbook-factory under valgrind for a couple of days now, and haven't seen anything weird. So I'm starting to think there might be some version incompatibility, so can you please run the following on a terminal:

$ apt-cache policy evolution evolution-data-server

Also, to check if the dependencies are ok:

$ dpkg -l | grep libebook

I copied the evolution back up file from one system (32-bit) to another (64-bit), the back-up file was from Friday and the crash occurred on Tuesday. It restored the file correctly, but seemed to crash when connecting to the imap, smpt servers. I mistyped a password, but that should not cause the problem.

I have a problem on the source system with sorting inbox messages on dates, which seems not correct

There were some thread-related problems in one temporary version in e-d-s that should be ok now, and since there's been no activity on this bug for 4 months now, I think this can be closed. If anyone can replicate it, please feel free to open
