Bug Description

Binary package hint: evolution-data-server

Evolution imap syncing regressed in intrepid. Upstream bug report: http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=564339. I have improvements to undo the regression and possibly improve upon hardy performance in my ppa: https://edge.launchpad.net/~lifeless/+archive

Initial observations:
First start of evolution after installing ppa packages failed, as in the sync was taking forever (this also happened before, so I'm not sure its a regression), so I killed all evolution processes

Second start, sync seems faster than usual.

I will continue testing in the next few days.

Your ppa packages give a huge performance gain on my 8.10 64-bit system.

Incidentally, I am also using mail-notification with the patch mentioned in:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/mail-notification/+bug/251031

and so far it appears stable.
