Bug Description

Binary package hint: evince

Ubuntu 11.04, but it happened in 10.10 as well

The program loads properly from the command line. Its only when I try and open a file that the CPU jupms -- and stays -- high. The page never renders.

strace shows it stuck here:

poll([{fd=4, events=POLLIN}, {fd=6, events=POLLIN}, {fd=12, events=POLLIN}, {fd=3, events=POLLIN}, {fd=13, events=POLLIN}, {fd=22, events=POLLIN|POLLPRI}, {fd=24, events=POLLIN|POLLPRI}, {fd=26, events=POLLIN|POLLPRI}], 8, 0) = 1 ([{fd=26, revents=POLLHUP}])
read(6, 0x212ed2e8, 4096) = -1 EAGAIN (Resource temporarily unavailable)

I tried running it w/ gdb, but gdb complains:

"warning: the debug information found in "/usr/lib/debug/usr/bin/evince" does not match "/usr/bin/evince" (CRC mismatch)."

I reinstalled evince and evince-dbg from the package manager; both are 2.32.0-0ubuntu12.1 (natty-updates), but the problem persists

I can reproduce this only on one machine, but with any pdf. I assume its some kind of messed-up setting somewhere, but I can't figure out where.

After more than 6 months of waiting I reinstalled ubuntu, which fixed the problem. As I said, every pdf caused it, but I can obviously no longer reproduce the bug. I have attached a pdf from my old home directory's downloads folder that I wasn't able to open in the past in case you have another way of reproducing it.
