problem with default magnification on document viewer

Binary package hint: evince

Whenever I open a document with Evince document viewer the magnification is 70% which is too small for me. Each time I
open the document I must reset the magnification to 100% which is very inconvenient. I have tried clicking on "set current
settings as default" under the edit menu but it makes no difference. Please let me know what I can do to fix this problem.

Works fine in my computer: Maverick 10.10 i386 2.6.35-24.42 with evince 2.32.0-0ubuntu1.1

I can change the default zoom without problem. Maybe is a configuration problem, have you tried with another user?

@ElPasmo: I can reproduce the issue (see also bug #690650 and bug #682492, so this seems to be a duplicate) on 10.10. Did you try two different documents -- evince does save the zoom level for a specific document (regardless of whether you select "Save current settings as default" or not) but it does not seem to save settings as defaults for never before opened documents.
