I have been having the same problem in Lucid for a week now, whether using Evince or Adobe, but previously downloaded .pdfs I had on a backup disk open fine. After downloading several .pdfs from Google Books and Internet Archive with the same "File is damaged" error in both Evince and Adobe it is obviously not an error in the .pdfs themselves. Would greatly appreciate a solution. Thank you!
