evince no longer shows bookmarks for DjVu files

Bug Description

Evince used to have no problem showing bookmarks when viewing a djvu file. Version 3.22.1 was fine. Now evince version 3.38.2 just shows a blank pane for bookmarks.

I'm not sure if the bug is in evince or in djvused, so the bug report is mirrored for each package. The djvused bug report has more details:

Note that I would have reported this upstream, but I was unable to register on gitlab.gnome.org. I forgot what the issue was, but I probably failed some anti-bot test.
