Some pages appear blank when printing/previewing PDFs

Bug Description

Binary package hint: evince

Sometimes, pages which show-up fine in the main window appear blank in the print preview, or when printed out. Whether pages are blanked, and which pages are blanked, depends on the PDF which is being viewed. When evince is closed and then the same document is re-opened, the same pages appear blank in the print preview. Some documents have no blank pages.

These pages are displayed correctly in xpdf, which is also able to print them correctly.

Steps to reproduce:

 1. Open a PDF document in evince
 2. Press File -> Print... -> Print Preview
 3. Some of the pages in the document may appear blank in the preview
 4. The same pages will appear blank when the document is printed
 5. Attempting to print only the blank pages has no effect (they remain blank when printed)

Latest hardy (upgraded from gutsy)
evince 2.21.1-0ubuntu2

Thank you for your bug report. I can confirm this bug with the same version of evince. I have noticed that I get some blank pages in the print preview, although there are no blank pages in the normal view.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Thanks in advance.

I suppose the ideal thing would be if someone has a PDF which reliably reproduces this.

Attaching a sample PDF which does this. The PDF was created by:

a) Drawing in Inkscape
b) Exporting as a PNG bitmap
c) Loading that bitmap into PosteRazor
d) Using PosteRazor to generate a multipage PDF
e) Loading into Evince to preview/print.

Note that both printing and print-previewing is broken, producing nothing but blank pages for all of the 24 pages in the document.

This document is very simple; just line art (stroked paths), so it should make a fairly good minimal test case.

Correction: it's simple stroked paths in the original, not sure how PosteRazor renders the PDF, but there's a PNG step in there, of course.

Oh, and I'm seeing this in evince "2.32.0, Using poppler/cairo (0.16.4)"

I'm also affected by this bug.
Some Pdfs displays correctly in evince but preview or printing don't display some polices and most pages are blank.

Same pdf prints correctly in 10.04.
The bug occurs in 12.04 and 12.10.

I'm currently affected by this bug.

I attached a PDF which, when printed, results in one blank page. I also attached a PDF which somehow shortens the output when printed.

I used xelatex to compile these PDFs and if I remove more text, it seems that less text is missing when printed. If I add more text to the PDF only one blank page is printed.

I'm using Ubuntu 12.10 with
libpoppler 0.20.4-0ubuntu1.2
evince 3.6.0-0ubuntu2
