Greyscale printing from Evince

It would be very useful if the printing dialog of Evince supported a switch for colour/greyscale printing. Some printers have separate colour and black ink cartridges, and when colour runs out it's still OK to print most docs in black & white.

Having to resort to global printer settings is very painful, and in some situations it doesn't even work for setting printing to black & white only.

I'm using Gutsy 7.10 on i686 w/ evince 2.20.1-0ubuntu1.

Sorry but I'm not able to find any B&W option in all dialogs reachable
from "File/Print Setup..." or "File/Print...". Or maybe did you mean
that *when the option is implemented* it should go where you said? In
that case forget this paragraph. ;)

I have the same problem with evince that does not allow to print in B&W or grayscale.
It is not a problem of printer driver nor cups configuration (for example, grayscale printing from Open Office or Firefox works fine ; you just have to choose your printing parameters in the "File/Print/Properties" dialog box).
Evince does not offer any choice in its printing dialog box.

My printer is a Canon iP4500.
I'm using the driver provided by canon Ver.2.80-1 (offered on canon's web site at this address: http://software.canon-europe.com/software/0028476.asp).

Despite the printer is able to print in grayscale, the PPD provided by Canon doesn't offer this option.

You have to use the proprietary tool "printuiip4500" shipped with the manufacturer's package to set global preferences for the printer.
