i recently installed eric5 manually on my system since i was affected by this bug.
so, i'm thinking about trying to privide a ppa for that. but i wouldn't take the effort if there was someone seriously working on that bug here.
so, is anyone doing so in the foreseeable (not the funky) future?

I've updated the ubuntu/eric bzr repo with eric 4.5.13 and proposed a merge back into lp:ubuntu/eric

Mike what do you mean you have updated the ubuntu/eric bzr? updated with what? I dont understand the merge sentence too to be honest.. does it have anything to do with a fix released or a ppa where it does not crashes? If so could you be more exhaustive and provide links on how to update it?

Angelo, it seems to me that Mike meant his branch lp:~mcfletch/eric/update-to-4.5.13 which is perhaps misplaced in the Eric project instead of Ubuntu package for Eric. I have tested it and it looks OK. Is there any possibility of pulling his work here, review it and merge if possible? (May I help in any way?)

I've hit this as well, and haven't found a way around it. Running Quantal on amd64. I'm attaching a trace from running python -v eric4.py" which shows it faults after importing Project.ProjectBrowserFlags . My 'strace' output looks pretty similar to what's there, so seems to be same bug.

Sorry, I'm not running Quantal, but Saucy (13.10).

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. I am no longer able to trigger this crash when starting eric 4.5.18-1 on Ubuntu 14.04, thus I believe this issue can be closed as fixed.
