With firefox it does work well.
Flash (via gnash) does work also so it does not look like there are problems with plugins in general.

I would like to add that epiphany webkit 2.28.0 also ignores java-6 -sun jre plugin in order to show applets in the browser. I have enabled activate java and activate java script but epiphany doesn't show any applet. Firefox 3.5 shows applets in karmic so, it is not the java jre but perhaps a lost link from epiphany to the java file?
