Bug Description

Binary package hint: epiphany-browser

On Ubuntu 8.04 (with updates to June 29th 2008) Epiphany uses the wrong country when 'Search The Web' is used.

In en_AU (Australia), having selected an Australian City from the locales list at install time, the default search goes to http://www.google.co.uk, when it should probably use http://www.google.com.au instead.

Installs were done using the Alternative Install CD, on fresh boxes having selected any Australian city during the installation process.

thank you for your bug report, the issue is an upstream one, could you open it on bugzilla.gnome.org too?

Can confirm it still occurs under 9.04 with Updates, but works correctly under Fedora 11 -- haven't tried 9.10 yet, will add a comment to this bug when I do.

I can open a bugreport upstream if it is still considered an upstream issue.

This bug is an upstream one and it would be quite helpful if somebody experiencing it could send the bug the to the people writing the software. You can learn more about how to do this for various upstreams at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream.
Once submitted upstream , do report back here with the upstream bug number.
Thanks in advance!

We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to review all reported bugs in a timely manner. You reported this bug some time ago and there have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time.

Ubuntu 8.04 (hardy) reached end-of-life on May 12, 2011 and
Ubuntu 9.10 (karmic) reached end-of-life on April 30, 2011.

Do you still see a problem related to the one that you reported in a currently supported version of Ubuntu? Please let us know if you do otherwise this report can be left to expire in approximately 60 days time.

Thank you for helping make Ubuntu better.
