With the version of epiphany in Hardy (manually back-ported on Gutsy, so sorry if this becomes a non-issue with Hardy), there is a bug where clicking (for example) a .pdf link will download the file, but doesn't open the preview application.

I think it is related to an upstream change, and with Gecko versions >= 1.9

I can confirm the problem in hardy beta 64bit. Epiphany with mozplugger installed downloads pdfs instead of opening them.

I understand this is not a critical bug, however I'd like to point out that at the moment epiphany does not show nor open in evince links to pdf files. Instead the pdf files are silently downloaded to the default folder (the desktop by default).

Now, like many other users I have to skim through lots of pdf links everyday and these small bugs (epiphany and firefox not loading embedded nor exteral pdf viewers) in Hardy are greatly affecting my user experience. Hope they can be fixed before Hardy comes out.

The lastest update of mozplugger seems to have fixed the issue on my machine. Thanks!

I believe I used to see this, but don't anymore. Together with Guido's comments that makes me believe the issue is fixed in hardy. Closing, but feel free to reopen if you still have this problem.

I am up to date and I still have this bug. However I don't have mozploger installed ... But it normally works without this application. For example, a click on a pdf usualy open evince, now it opens nothing, only download the pdf file.
