Bug Description

Binary package hint: epiphany-browser

You can try installing the specific aspell package (aspell-es?) as it handles the common spellchecker dictionary for various gnome apps, like evolution, xchat and pidgin.

alternatively you can refer to language support (System > Administration > Language support) and make sure your locale settings do no requiere extra pacakges.

I've got the same problem. I put "fr" to "spellcheker.dictionary" key but it always correct text using English dictionary. When I go back to about:config, epiphany has set the key to "en-US". But if I do not use textarea, it keeps "fr" when I go back to about:config.

I use epiphany 2.22.1.1 and Hardy Heron.

aspell-fr package is installed : I try using aspell -l fr in a terminal and it works fine and xchat use the french dictionary correctly.

It's very strange.

Thank you for your help.

Same problem with Epiphany 2.22.1.1 and italian dict, set "it" but return to "en-US" when close and restart the browser.

I have marked all other bugs releated to spellckeging as duplictate to this one, as this is bug has more comments.

In Epiphany 2.22.2 i can change the "spellchecker.dictionary" to any value, but the "layout.spellcheckDefault" key is set to 0 and i can not set it to 1.

I have aspell-ro and myspell-ro installed into my system. Ubuntu 8.04

Same thing on Hardy with Epiphany 2.22.
Trying to change the value of layout.spellcheckDefault from 0 to 1, the left click menu acts like I can't select anything.
When I try to comeback to my homepage [from about:config] epiphany seems disconnected [even if the network is on].
I must logoff-logon to navigate correctly, but without the automatic spell check.

Hey, is there any chance to get this fixed? And why it is marked as a wishlist? Firefox's Gecko has a feature to set a spellchecker's dictionary (i.e. to change spellchecker.dictionary from "en-US" to e.g. "lt_LT" in about:config) and which doesn't work in Epiphany for particular. It's certainly not a wishlist, no any additional features are requested.
