Bug Description

After updating to Ubuntu 23.10 (not a problem on 23.04), now this sequence of steps crashes all open EOG instances:

1. Open image 1
2. Open image 2
3. Close image 2
4. Open image 2
5. Crash (closes ALL eog windows)

Does not appear to be related to the image data itself (100% repro with other file types, etc so far).

Description: Ubuntu 23.10
Installed: 45.0-1ubuntu1

Possibly related to this line in console output (full log attached, run with EOG_DEBUG=1)

```
(eog:1184110): Gtk-CRITICAL **: 20:50:02.253: gtk_widget_get_scale_factor: assertion 'GTK_IS_WIDGET (widget)' failed
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better.
You could do
$ ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash
Then tell us the ID of the newly-created bug.
If it fails then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where ID is the content of file /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id on the machine. Do you find any links to recent problems on that page? If so then please send the links to us.
Please take care to avoid attaching .crash files to bugs as we are unable to process them as file attachments. It would also be a security risk for yourself.
Thank you, I went ahead and removed the .crash file attachment from here
ubuntu-bug didn't give me a bug ID (or I did it wrong), but sounds like you found it :)
How do you open the images, by calling eog from a cmdline or opening their from a filemanager or from within the UI using the menu for example?
I tested both command line (second console window) and via dolphin and both scenarios trigger the crash
Oh-- also I've seen it happen launching via gthumb too.
sounds like a gtk problem, the error is about scaling ... do you have some sort of scaling factor set for your desktop?
I don't believe so -- "global scale" in system settings -> display configuration is 100%
