Bug Description

When I am inserting the SD card of my camera in the PC and have a look at the pictures, eog sometimes fails to show them, giving this error: Improper call to JPEG library in state 200

I get that error when I am using the keyboard arrows to go back and forth between the pictures I took. The next time I try to open the picture, it is shown without a problem.

Thank you for your bug report. Do you get the same issue if the photos are on your disk? Could be an i/o error on the card...

Yes, I can reproduce the error when the photos are on my harddrive.

Does it do it on a specific photo? or a set of photos? could you maybe share them on the bug report?

It usually happens when I am switching between the photos in eog and going back and forth. I have not really worked out a logic behind the error yet, but it seems to happen more with some photos than others. Once I get the error, I can just jump to the next picture and go back and it opens without problems.
I am attaching a few of the photos that failed to be displayed in eog frequently.

I'm not using Ubuntu but Arch and I'm affected by the same problem like Simon.
So it seems like to be an upstream bug.

I cannot reproduce the behaviour at all. It just randomly happens when (quickly?) going through photo collections.
Picture are on the SSD with XFS. Going back and forth “fixes” it, rarely I have to do this more than one time per picture.
dmesg's output does not show anything related to IO problems.
