Bug Description

Binary package hint: eog

With Ubuntu 7.10 beta, Eye of GNOME 2.20 doesn't display tags created with F-SPOT (with the option "tag in pictures" activated)

It's seems to be a bug since :
F-Spot is supposed to create XMP tags
EOG 2.20 is supposed to display XMP tags

That's likely because eog is built without the xmp option in Ubuntu, it requires exempi which seems to not be available yet

with ubuntu hardy alpha 4 i get a lot of information in EoG now but still not the keywords added with F-Spot.
See the results in the picture attach showing the photo above loaded in both F-Spot and EoG.
You can see 'Vacances' and 'Saint-Tropez' in F-Spot but not in EoG

Just a comment to antistress

I'm testing from the latest hardy livecd. And your keyword does not show up.

It looks like your image contains this in the xmp.Subject field.
$ exiftool -xmp:all DSC_0407-2.JPG
Subject : vacances, Saint-Tropez

If I copy the tags from this image to a copy of the same image with
exiftool -tagsfromfile DSC_0407-2.JPG DSC_0407-2-copy.JPG
they are visible in eog under the Keyword tag.

If I just write the same tags like this
 exiftool -xmp:Subject="vacances, Saint-Tropez" DSC_0407-2.JPG
They are also visible in eog.

So maybe this is a F-Spot bug?

I played a little more with dumpmainxmp from exempi.

I have added the dumps as attachment. The one named tagsfromfile.txt is from the above tagsfromfile command and the other named write is from the above write command.

since i don't know whether F-Spot or EoG is the "guilty" one, i've just asked to f-spot-list http://mail.gnome.org/archives/f-spot-list/index.html

I missed the file was given above. Forget my last question.

I checked the file with Exempi and the information is all there.

With Hardy beta, Nautilus displays "vacances, Saint-Tropez" keywords while right clicking on the file (Image tab),
therefore i guess it is an EOG bug

-> According to EoG developer, that seems to be a F-Spot bug but EoG has been fixed to deal with it

Therefore it only remains the F-Spot bug to fix before closing this bug report :
XMP data packets have wrong 'id' attribute in F-Spot
