Image Viewer could not open some images

Bug Description

I'm working on a back-end for project for ASDtechnologies which is generate previews for images. And I have some special images to test. For example jpg file 80mb.
So service generate png thumb from 200mb png file via image magic software, and after that Image Viewer could not open this file.

Browsers and other viewers does open this file correctly.

File is actually jpg image. If you rename it to big_image_84_mb.jpg then eog opens it.

Oh, ok, but if 90% of software that I tested can recognize that file has another format and display, may be implement this?

I think the proper behaviour would be to read the file format from the file head and not from a filename extension.
I found this bug upstream that is along the same lines.
