Bug Description

What i do:

Type a letter in Russian
Press send
Note that the password prompt for the key opens
Try to change the keyboard layout to English to type the password

What happens:

Layout doesn't change, which forces me to cancel, change layout in the letter window, and then attempt to send again.

What i expect to happen:

I should be able to send the letter regardless of the current layout, there should be a way to change the layout in the password prompt window.

If anything, this is probably an issue in pinentry. What is the title of the window for the passphrase? Are you using Unity? Have you tried to switch the language from the Unity taskbar icon?

This was a long time ago, and since then i've upgraded to XUbuntu 16.04.

Currently the password window always has US layout when it starts regardless of what i used to type an e-mail, which is an awesome way of doing that.

Thank you for reporting back. Defaulting to US would create problems for users deliberately using non-ASCII characters in their passwords so I wouldn't consider it a true fix.

But it should default to the same thing. Because otherwise you would have to
double/triple check what language you have set before you send the e-mail.

If you will change it, at least have an option to default to the same layout
each time, because it is very useful as it is now. Using non-ASCII is still
possible, but you need to change on the password field, which a person would
just remember to do each time (regardless what language the e-mail was in).

This is then something you should lobby for upstream. Ubuntu cannot and will not shoulder the burden of developing your intended solution and the on-going maintenance cost. This would have to happen upstream.
