Bug Description

This may be a issue with thunar, not 100% sure how this feature works
This does not seem to be a issue when making the archive in the same partition
---
EDIT:
Yes, it is engrampa's bug
Test command:
~$ ext='zip';archive="/home/xubuntu/Downloads/Adwaita.$ext";engrampa /usr/share/themes/Adwaita/* -a $archive;echo "engrampa exit status: $?";if [ -f $archive ];then rm $archive;echo "Success";else echo "Failure";fi

Looks to be a permissions issue (works when running thunar as root), i guess it is using the read only origin to store temp file when it should use the destination for that

my last post was correct
when compressing a large amount of data into a z7 file it created a .tz.tmp file in the file origin folder instead of the destination

Status changed to 'Confirmed' because the bug affects multiple users.

I can confirm that I have the same problem on my installation of Xubuntu 18.04, fully updated but installed originally in mid November 2017.

I can create a zip archive of files/folders owned by me, but can not do so for files/folders owned by root, even if I am able to read those same files/folders and attempt to save the archive to my home folder. File-roller in 16.04 can create the same zip archive without a problem.
