Bug Description

encfs asks for creating new folders with (j, n) in german "Ja, Nein" but encfs needs the english input (y, n) to work, see attachment.

It's kind of confusing if people use the software for the first time.
Just add "j" to the inputs or change (j, n) to (y, n)

$ encfs ~/.foobar ~/foobar
Das Verzeichnis "/home/tommy/.foobar/" existiert nicht. Soll es angelegt werden? (j,n) j
Kein Verzeichnis angelegt.
17:36:46 (main.cpp:416) Wurzelverzeichnis konnte nicht gefunden werden, Abbruch.

$ encfs ~/.foobar ~/foobar
Das Verzeichnis "/home/tommy/.foobar/" existiert nicht. Soll es angelegt werden? (j,n) y
Das Verzeichnis "/home/tommy/foobar" existiert nicht. Soll es angelegt werden? (j,n) y

According to the current translation by Dennis Baudys, submitted on 2010-10-18, it should give you a choice of "y" or "n": https://translations.launchpad.net/encfs/main/+pots/encfs/de/+translate?batch=10&show=all&search=existiert+nicht

The current version of Encfs was released on November 18, 2010. In addition, Encfs is translated in Launchpad (Upstream translations). Therefore it should contain the correct translation.

So this is not a translation bug but a bug in encfs.

I am going to test this on a VM running Raring tomorrow to see if it is still present there.

The same problem still appears in 13.04. Either translations haven't been imported properly or Upstream translations are used. Going to check that.

According to their homepage, upstream translations take part in Launchpad as well, so this is not a translation bug but a localization bug by encfs.

Furthermore, encfs should probably accept localized input as many other command-line programs do.

It doesn't work in this case though. See initial post. I can confirm that it does not work. I am not sure if it is possible for us to change the input? I guess it has to be done by the developer.

Yep. "should" = "It should work, but it does not."
