Bug Description

Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin
Unity 4.24 (PPA https://launchpad.net/~unity-team/+archive/staging)
nautilus: error while loading shared libraries: libunity.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Same error for Empathy.

libunity6 is installed (no package removed by the upgrade from 4.22 to 4.24, every packages are up to date)
(Compiz configuration had been reset after having upgraded Unity, only Wobbling Windows had been changed after (activated))

Indeed, this is known and will be addressed when libunity will enter the archives (because of the ABI break, every rdepends need to be rebuilt).

On the compiz configuration being lost, can you please try to reproduce it? We need clear steps to see how the configuration can be reset.

No, I had no problem with my configuration, I did unity --reset to clear the config to avoid bugs caused by myself on CCSM, and then I set Wobbling Windows as activated.

To solve it type in terminal:

sudo ln -s /usr/lib/libunity.so.9 /usr/lib/libunity.so.6

I'm marking this as fix released since this was done as Unity 5.0 entered Precise.

I guess there's a secondary issue here for Oneiric users who are trying to use the staging PPA to get the latest Unity without running Precise. And there's an OMGUbuntu post that kind of promotes doing just that.
