i clicked on a contact this time and it crashed but stayed opened.... one of the really annoying things that is happening in Empathy in Gnome Shell is that if you close a window, you stop getting messages and have to quit empathy and restart it to get messages again. It has been this way since I started using the beta but wasn't sure where to report it. Anybody with similar experience?

Crashed on launch. Oddly this is the first time I've had this crash and I've been running oneiric for a couple of weeks. It worked fine on the next launch.

I've been having a problem lately where I click on the Chat icon (in Oneiric) and I see the outline of the chat window for a split second - then it disappears. The second time I click it, it comes up.

Today, I clicked on it several times, and only on the last time did the outline/disappear happen. Then I got the crash window.

BTW, the above I'm reporting is in empathy 3.1.91-0ubuntu2

Previously, due to a hard disk error, libnss3.so was missing - which caused nm-applet and empathy not to start. After a forced reinstall of libnss3 both started working again yesterday but tomorrow, after my system resumed from standby, I only got the message that empathy had crashed.

So, maybe a standby (suspend-to-ram) can trigger this bug as well?

Thanks for your bug report and helping to make Ubuntu better. This release is old and I believe it's fixed by now. Please test this with the newest version of empathy and see if this is still an issue.
